Recently I’ve been having another bout of GAS (Gear Aquisition Syndrome) and I have been deliberating getting either a Sony A6000 or the Ricoh GR II. I’ve been wanting to get something smaller that I can carry around more often and during my travels. I was worried that I might just end up leaving the gear at home most of the time again so decided on taking my DSLR out, with a different lens each time to confirm if a smaller camera was worth the investment.
I wanted something that was obviously compact and not too expensive as I was not planning to invest a whole lot in lenses. I needed portability without too much compromise in image quality. I’m considering the A6000 and not the A6300 or A5000 because of the price point and also because I’m invested in the Sony system.
The GR II has been reviewed by many as a great camera for street photography. It is also lightweight and compact with a large sensor which would be great for my travels and street photography.
So I headed out with my A77 with a 35mm (52.5mm equivalent) lens for the day. I’ve had this lens for a long time but have hardly ever used it and I've even forgotten that it was a f1.8! My 24mm stays on my camera most of the time and I use the 16-50mm if I needed a zoom. Its a beautiful lens built for the A77.
