Summer went by too quickly, with the colder days and winter approaching soon, I looked back at the busy summer that I had this year and the photos of the events past and realized that I have not shared anything. Other than fireworks, summer in Japan is also the season for festivals or "Matsuri". I managed to attend a big one this year, I was told that it was one of the biggest in Japan this year with a number of temples participating in the festival. These "portable shines" are about the weight of a small car and they are being paraded around all day can carried by a dedicated team of volunteers. Most of them end up with bruised shoulders at the end of the day as they not only carry them but have the shrines "dance" as they move around. No better way to experience the summer festivities in Japan!
Thank you for visiting.
